Useful Tips for Tape Application
Olympia™ Kinesiology Tape is used to aid muscle or joint healing as well as give support and stability without restrictions to movement or circulation. Best for injured muscles or joints, swelling and pain relief, all while staying active! It is water-resistant, breathable and as flexible as human skin, making it capable of staying on up to several days. When applied correctly, the taped area forms creases expanding the space between skin and muscles to release pressure and improve fluid circulation.
- Clean and moisture the skin.
Clean the treated area first. The skin has to be moisture skin flake and oil-free. If the degree of body hair seems to limit adhesion, the area needs to be shaved or clipped.
- The right stretching tension of the tape.
The tension during tape application is critical for success. Pulling and using full stretch will diminish the effectiveness of this technique. Please refer to our kinesiology taping reference books for the correct percentage of tension for different applications.
- Use professional kinesiology tape scissors.
Using the Nevanon Tape Scissor or the Scotch Precision Scissor (Non-Stick) is a must to cut precise patterns needed for certain techniques (for example "fan" or "web" strip applications).
- Learn proper application techniques.

Precautions
- Test the skin.
Although the tape is latex-free and does not contain any medications or herbs, please test the tape with a small application first to be sure no irritations occur.
- Irritation may occur.
If irritation occurs, please remove the tape immediately and wash with warm water. Consult a physician if necessary.
- Repositioning the tape.
Once the tape is applied it should not be repositioned or the adhesive will be compromised.
